How to Remove Halloween Make-up
So, you’ve decided on a costume. You’ve done your U-tube tutorials, dropped a bundle on glitter & you’re ready to hit the party circuit. Let us help you erase every trace of your alter ego when the night is said and done. Here are some helpful tips:
Use “Q-tips” dipped appropriate removal solution. Check w/salesman. The solutions are usually sold nest to the prosthetic props. Rather then use a lot of the solvent, give it time to do its work. Slowly apply more as needed. This will help prevent chemical burns, contact dermatitis, etc.
A must know element to prevent post costume party mayhem. This determines what cleansing routine will work best.
Oil based make-up: Use a cream cleanser or oil cleanser. Apply to dry skin. That’s right, DO NOT SPLASH your skin with water. Massage cleanser around for a full minute. Moisten a facial cloth w/tepid water. Wipe cleanser away. Do a second cleanse with a gel cleanser or water based cleanser. Emulsify cleanser w/water, massage well. Rinse w/water, doing a final swipe of skin w/a facial cloth. Pat dry.
Water based make-up: Use a gel or water based-cleanser. Apply cleanser directly to skin, massage to distribute, emulsify with water on your fingertips. Massage for 1-2 minutes. Moisten facial cloth w/tepid water to rinse. Do a second cleanse, finishing w/a thorough swipe of moistened facial cloth. Pat dry.
If you normally eschew the idea of a toner, well, get over it. It is the essential final step in a complete cleansing routine. I recommend using cotton pads as you are more likely to use to correct amount of product. Moisten a cotton pad, brace your skin with one hand and swipe cotton pad firmly against skin in direction opposite hair growth. Repeat until cotton pad shows no colored residue. You may need to do a third cleanse.
No need to break the bank. Pick up a gentle clay masque (we love our whimsical collection of Queen Helene) and apply a thick layer to skin while still moist w/toner. Let sit for 3-5 minutes. Rinse well w/ tepid water. Follow w/ toner.
Apply a light serum or moisturizer depending on your personal hydration need. Use a spot treat on any troubled areas and finish w/a light tapotement massage move.
